treehugger me!
This ancient cedar is over 500 years old. I am in Heaven standing here in front of it at South Whidbey Island State Park.
a vision of ancient majesty
This ancient cedar did not fare as well just a few feet away. Her trunk was enormous and spectacularly beautiful all covered in moss.....

Yesterday in church, the choir sang "Be Thou My Vision" which is one of my favorite hymns. As I reflected on our trip to the Pacific Northwest and on all the amazing natural beauty I was blessed to behold with my husband and son, this song seemed to speak perfectly the words of thanksgiving in my heart.....
