Just after New Year's 2011, we visited the beach as a family, and we were amazed to see this very large, extremely heavy piece of driftwood that someone had fixed upright like a standing stone - an Ebenezer of sorts. The visible portion pictured stood over 3 feet high and the section that was buried beneath the sand was at least again as long (our son patiently and carefully dug around it to assess this, but he was never able to reach the bottom). Clearly, the driftwood was very solidly and deliberately fixed in place by someone. The Hebrew translation for "Eben-Ezer" means "God has led us thus far" or "Thus far God has helped us" and comes from a story in 1 Samuel 7:12. This felt to me like a very special sign for 2011 and a beautiful OceanPrayer. And so, it became my blog's newest photo. I hope you like it, too. The very next morning, I revisted the exact same spot, curious to see and photograph the "stone" again in the morning sunlight, yet the Ebenezer was completely gone without a trace...
